Set phasers on stun

Stunned. That pretty much describes it. I was completely stunned at how much I enjoyed this film. It grabbed me in the first 10 minutes and didn't let go until the credits were rolling. I loved pretty much everything about it. Before I go any further, here's the quick sum-up:

STAR TREK begins with an attack by an impossibly advanced Romulan ship captained by the tattooed, snarling Nero (Eric Bana). Among the survivors is the infant version of James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), who grows up to wreak havoc on the Iowa countryside. When Captain Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood) meets an adult Kirk, he encourages him to join Starfleet, giving him the opportunity to meet Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), and the rest of the characters audiences have loved for decades.

I guess I should say here that I have never been a huge Trek fan so any changes that were made didn't really bother me. I know that my mom (who is a big classic-Trek fan) was less impressed by it than the rest of my family was. I think that was mainly due to the fact that this film has a much more action/adventure feel to it than the series it's based on does. On a different note, I have seen quite a bit of the original series myself and I thought that the cast did a great job of portraying the characters, especially Kirk and Spock.

There were a few instances of corniness, and the action sequences got a little shaky-cam sometimes but other than that, I really have no complaints.

Anyway, I think that this is a fantastic reboot and probably the most enjoyable film I've seen since The Dark Knight last summer. Go see it for yourself!
